If there’s one must see stop on the Oregon Coast, the Tillamook Creamery is what most people choose! On many days, the lines and the crowds can be pretty insane. It’s just north of the touristy cannon beach, but it can be a much less crowded place to explore. If you have the time, I recommend this beautiful walk starting at the 17th St. Walking/Running the Astoria Riverwalk - The Astoria Riverwalk follows and sometimes even is the old railroad track right on the Columbia River. Just off the pier is the Maritime Museum if you’re interested to learn more. However, you can walk up to view them without entering a restricted area. They are active military vessels, and it’s a federal crime. Coast Guard Pier - Do NOT attempt to gain access to the Coast Guard ships. Sunrise from the Astoria Column - Driving up to the Astoria Column for sunrise is one of the best ways to start the day.Ĭolumbia River Maritime Museum / 17th St. Starting in Astoria, this beautiful old fishing town sitting right on the mouth of the Columbia River is one that you’re going to want slow down and enjoy. However, when I went back to revisit the coast in January one year, we got the best weather imaginable and clear sunsets every night! So who knows… You might get lucky!
